Mangaluru: The state government has moved a wrong pawn by announcing a CID probe into the mysterious death of an upright IAS officer D K Ravi. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should have passed on the case to the hands of the central probe agency.

This was the immediate reaction of former Union Minister Janardhan Poojary after the Congress ruled state government announced a CID investigation into the death of 32-year-old joint commissioner (enforcement) commercial tax department. “Earlier in the morning I spoke to Congress MLC V S Ugrappa to convey my message to CM,” Poojary divulged. The new development tarnishes the image of the party, even as political opponents, mainly BJP are leveling allegations of Congress leader’s (Shivaraj Tangadagi) involvement in the transfer.
However earlier in the day Poojary had convened a press conference to demand a CBI investigation. Read on:IAS officer’s death: Poojary demands CBI probe
Alongside he criticized the transfer of D K Ravi, which the government carried out in November 2014.
He further said that the government sent a wrong signal to the public by not heeding to the demands of the public. The public in different parts of states erupted with protests demanding a CBI probe. “I do not understand the motif behind the government’s decision.”
He said, he was saddened by the fresh fall out. He said he has not phoned V S Ugrappa to learn whether latter MLC had conveyed his message to the CM.
