Mangaluru: Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary blamed the Narendra Modi-led union government and backed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s ongoing dharna, on Monday, February 4.

Addressing the reporters at Kudroli Temple Hall, Poojary said that the CBI officials’ bid to raid Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s house at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. “Mamata is holding the dharna in order to save the Constitution of India and its federal structure. As Modi wants to destabilise the government of West Bengal, he is misusing CBI institution”, he alleged.

Though Poojary cautioned of staging an indefinite hunger strike in Kudroli Gokarnanathshwara temple premises from Monday evening at around 6 PM urging to set right the issues in West Bengal quickly, he later, withdrew his plan. “I will decide on whether to hold dharna or not, only after the Supreme Court’s verdict which is expected to be out on Tuesday, February 5”, he added.

On being questioned as to why he was supporting Mamata Banerjee although she was backing an alleged corrupt police officer and why he wanted to stage a dharna in a religious centre Kudroli temple, he refused to answer.
