Police trace Ismail’s killers, 2 accused in custody

Sullia: The Dakshina Kannada Police managed to crack the case by arresting the accused in the murder of Ismail Nelyamajalu, President of coastal Minority Wing on Monday, October 3. Two of the accused were produced before Sullia court and are now in police custody.

The accused are Abdul Rashid alias Munna aged 32, resident of Ammunje in Bantwal and Abbas aged 32 of Krishnapura in Surathkal.

Police sought their custody which court granted and now the accused will be in police custody for the next five days. Other five, nabbed by the police are in police custody and further investigations are in progress. They too are likely to be produced in court on Tuesday.

Based on the instruction of Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police (SP) Gulab Rao Borase, three teams were formed in the leadership of Puttur Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rishyanth. The team succeeded in nabbing seven culprits within 10 days after the murder.

It may be recalled that Ismail was murdered while he was returning from Aivarnadu mosque after prayers on September 23. He was killed when he was trying to get inside his Innova car by armed assailants who later escaped.
