Police detain CITU activists protesting against HMS dist president

Mangalore: A protest against Hind Mazdoor Sangh (HMS) district President Sureshchandra Shetty staged by CITU turned  chaotic after the police detained several members of CITU on Monday January 27.

Around 35 CITU activists including two women were detained by the police at Ballalbagh near the residence of Sureshchandra Shetty. The protestors charged Shetty of disrupting employment of locals in railway goods shed and Aspinwall company godown.

CPI (M) leader Sunil Kumar Bajal and CITU district general secretary Vasanth Acharya were also detained by the police. The Barke police later dispersed the protestors.
