Mangaluru: Police have decided to install closed circuit television cameras in sensitive places, including in Uppinangady town, following the incidents of communal conflict.
There were reports of stone pelting and damaging properties, minutes after ‘Virat Hindu Sangam’ culminated in Puttur, where rightwing leaders Praveen Togadia and Prabhakar Bhat, reportedly made hate speeches.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police S.D Sharanappa said that the CCTV cameras would help the police in preventing as well as detecting various criminal activities, which include communal clashes.
Prohibitory orders have been clamped in Karaya since the incident, attempts made by a few people to create fresh trouble on Sunday were foiled by the police, he said, the situation is by and large peaceful and under control.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in many sensitive areas. “We are trying to identify those responsible for the trouble”, he said the complaints have been registered on the basic of statements given by the injured persons.
