Police arrest three suspected of killing HJV leader

Puttur: Three persons, suspected to have been involved in the murder of Sampya resident and Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) leader Karthik Suvarna, were arrested by police on Thursday, September 5.

The arrested accused have been identified as Charanraj (26), his brother Kiran (36), both residents of Puttur, and Preethesh (28) from Ullalbail. Preethesh is a rowdy-sheeter has two cases registered against him in Ullal police station, reports Deccan Herald.

Police also arrested a fourth person, Attavar resident Steevan Monteiro, for sheltering the accused.

Karthik Suvarna (28), son of Ramesh Suvarna and former Aryapu Gram panchayat member Hemavathy, was stabbed on September 3 night during a Ganeshotsava celebration in Sampya, and died on the way to the hospital.

According to the DH report, police said that the three accused were prompted to attack Karthik due to a chit fund business dispute.
