Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lost his only Mangaluru-based friend, Vishwanath Suvarna (67). An RSS pracharak, Suvarna worked with Modi for eight years from 1992 in Chandigarh and neighbouring areas. He died in the early hours of Friday, at his residence in the city after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
A senior RSS Pracharak Vishwanath headed the Sangh-inspired organization ‘Dharam Manch’. However, Vishwanath had slightly distanced himself from Sangh Parivar in recent years. But, he was a strong admirer of Modi.
Besides, he expressed his happiness when Narendra Modi chaired as the PM of the country.
After a gap of 15 years, Vishwanath met Modi in 2008 during latter’s Mangaluru visit.
