Ullal: A pillion rider died on the spot and another sustained injuries when the fish laden lorry knocked down their two-wheeler here near Kollya in the outskirts of the city on Monday. 

Shashidhar (35) was riding pillion with his colleague Gulshan. Both work as carpenters at Uchila. The two were returning after paying electricity bill, the police said.

When the duo reached Kollya, the fish laden lorry knocked down their motorcycle. While Gulshan fell on the safer side of the road, Shashidhar, who was riding pillion, came under the wheels. Gulshan was rushed to the hospital and is out of danger, its learnt.

The deceased is survived by wife and two children.

A case of rash driving and negligence has been registered in the Ullal police station.
