Thiruvananthapuram: Tragedy struck the ongoing National Games as a 21-year-old netball player from Maharashtra died on Monday following cardiac arrest.

Mayurish Pawar collapsed after training due to a massive cardiac arrest and was declared dead by doctors at a nearby private hospital, according to National Games Secretariat officials.

“He was on his way back to the room after a practice session at the indoor stadium at Vellayani near here along with his other team members. He suddenly collapsed and the others rushed him to the hospital. But doctors declared him dead,” a NGS official said.

“The dead body would be handed over to the team and family members after a post mortem,” he added.
