Mangaluru: Popular Front of India (PFI), Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, on Friday demanded the reconstruction of Babri Masjid and the arrest of those who were involved in its demolition.

Speaking to reporters, A.M. Attavulla, district president of PFI said, “After the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the demolition of Babri Masjid is the second biggest act of terrorism. The fascist forces brought down the secular system of the country, by demolishing the masjid on December 6, 1992. It is a black mark on the constitutional right, which provides freedom of religion”

He said, the demolition of Babri Masjid was no accident, but a pre-planned act of the BJP to gain votes. Even after promising the Supreme Court that they would not harm the Babri Masjid, a section of Hindu leaders provoked party workers to demolish it. Many political leaders used it as an issue to come to power. Many promised us that they would rebuild Babri Masjid. But, it was all a drama, he said.

The Liberhan Commission report has named L.K Advani, Muruli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar,  as being  involved in the destruction of our holy place. But, nothing has been done to arrest them, he said.

“The PFI of DK district is going to hold a campaign in front of the DC office with the slogan ‘Lest We Forget – Babri Masjid’, remembering it as a dark day, on Saturday December 6 at 4 pm,” Athavulla said.

Jaffer Sadiq Faizi, president of All India Imam Council and Bajpe unit PFI president Abdul Majeed were at the press meet.
