Moodbidri: A case has been registered against five persons belonging to right wing organisations who allegedly assaulted a youth from another community in connection with the fake facebook account case as per complaint filed by the accused Imtiyaz.

It is learnt that Sachin, Sunil, Prasad, Vinayak, and Naveen reportedly assaulted Imtiyaz at Swaraj Maidan.

Earlier a case was registered against a youth named Imtiyaz from Kotebagilu who allegedly trapped a girl and forced her to fall in love, through a fake facebook account with the name of Mahesh. He had also changed his attire and wore a saffron shawl and posed as Hindu to convince the girl.

It is learnt that he changed his attire to impress a Hindu girl who was employed in a private firm. But the girl soon realised something fishy about this guy and complained to some of the Hindu activists. So the activists assaulted the accused and handed him over to police.

However all the arrested were granted bail after being produced in the local court on Friday.

Interestingly the fake facebook account remained active even after case was registered by the police. On Thursday the facebook account had a profile picture of a baby replacing the photo of the youth. But on Friday afternoon the profile picture was changed and the youth’s picture reappeared.
