Petty shops on the State Bank Lady Goschen stretch demolished by MCC

Mangaluru: The civic body has demolished all illegal shops at State Bank and Lady Goschen hospital here, on Tuesday March 17.  The operation was conducted under the guidance of the revenue commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation.

Deputy revenue commissioner Rajiv Mogaveer said, “These petty shops were on the foothpaths and did not have permits to operate. Though we did not serve any notice as such, our officials informed the shop owners about the demolition on Monday March 16, and the operation was conducted today.”

“The process is still going on and the final statistics will be known only by evening,” he added.

On the other hand there was a lot of wastage of goods and other commodities as the shopkeepers did not move. The petty shops included those selling fruits, vegetables and beverages.

Assistant revenue officer Vijay, health inspector Bharat Kumar, officials Koovappa, Yashodhar, Karunakar and others took part in the operation.
