Newskarnataka – Kasargod
Kasargod: With the condition of the Permude-Bandyodu Road here in a deplorable state, residents of the area have decided to take to the path of agitation against the authorities.

The foundation for the 14 km stretch of road was laid by PWD minister VK Ibrahim a few months ago. However, the works are not yet initiated though monsoons are nearing. Daily private buses as well as several other vehicles use this route despite its bad state.
A stretch of 10 kms out of the 14 kms stretch of this road is dotted with potholes making matters worse. The hopes of the people that the road would be repaired prior to the Lok Sabha elections have been dashed. Initially, it was planned to develop the road at a cost of Rs 6 crores. Even an action plan had been prepared for development of 10 km stretch of road with a promise to release grants for the second phase of development of 4 km stretch of road.
Though raw materials were brought to do the patch works from Chevar to Permude, nothing more was done.
With monsoons just a few days away, travel on this stretch of road is sure to turn nightmarish. Bus operators even say that it may be inevitable to suspend bus services on the route.
