Kasargod : Thieves who broke into a house at Nalka near Perla in Badiadka police station limits have stolen jewellery weighing 140 sovereigns apart from a bike parked in front of the house. The house located near the Nalka Jumma Masjid is owned by KN Hameed, a trader in Mangalore. The theft which occurred on November 21, Thursday night came to light only the next morning.

Though Hameed, his wife, mother and other members of the family were in the house, the theft came to the notice of none of them. The balcony of the two-floored house did not have a door and this gave the thieves an easy entry into the house. They then stole the gold jewels from the cupboards and took away even a bike parked in front of the house after finding its keys on a table in the house.
The thieves however have not stolen the mobile phone and camera in the cupboard. Sources said the stolen gold jewellery was owned by the brothers of Hameed who were working overseas. Hameed’s mother who woke up at around 3 am to go to the bathroom saw the front door open and alerted other members of the family. The neighbours and Badiadka police were immediately informed.
SP Thomson Jose, DySP PP Mohanchandran Nair, Circle Inspector Balakrishnan and other police officials arrived at the spot. A canine squad and finger print experts were also summoned.
