Patient succumbs to Dengue as suspected cases rise

Bantwal: Despite awareness campaigns and relief measures by health department, one more person has died due to dengue on Saturday night.
Chandrashekar Shetty (25) of Kencharu in Vamanapadav village is the deceased.

He was diagnosed with dengue symptoms few days ago and was under treatment at a primary health centre. When the fever did not subside, he was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. His health condition deteriorated as he failed to respond to treatment and died eventually.

Dengue cases on the rise

District Health Officer Dr Deepa Prabhu said, “There are 35 confirmed cases of Dengue in the taluk and around 127 suspected cases in infant stage.  Fogging operations are being carried out by health authorities and printed awareness material is being distributed in all the villages with the help of Asha aid group”.
