Patient dies in ambulance caught in traffic snarl

Mangalore: The traffic  blockade at Netravathi bridge on February 21, Friday claimed the life of a  man  who had suffered a cardiac arrest,  after the ambulance carrying him was caught in the traffic snarl.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Ramesh Sanil from Eliyarpadavu near Ullal.  It is learnt traffic came to a halt following a  road accident involving  a Maruti Omni and a bike.

It is learnt the traffic snarl that lasted for nearly six hours. Though several other ambulances were also caught in the blockade, it was too late for Ramesh who died in the ambulance.

In the past, whenever there was a traffic blockade on  Netravati Bridge  the vehicles used to move on the new bridge. However, movement of vehicles on the new bridge  has been  barred since the past few days on account of ongoing works.
