Mangalore:Passengers travelling in the Nizamuddin-Ernakulam train protested as soon as the train reached Mangalore Junction on October 7, Monday night against the apathy of the railway authorities in offering medical treatment to a traveler who fell ill during travel and died by the time the train reached Mangalore.
As the passengers erupted in protest, tension prevailed at the railway station and the railway officials had a tough time in pacifying the agitated passengers.
It is learnt, the passenger named Chandran Pillai (55) had fallen ill when the train reached Madagaon. Other passengers immediately requested the railway authorities for medical help but of no avail. Pillai died by the time the train reached Mangalore.
Sources said he was on way to Kollam to meet his brother who stayed there. He resided at Delhi and was engaged in surgical equipment business.
