Mangaluru: Based on a tip off given by Air India Security, on 18th June, Customs officers of the Mangalore International Airport intercepted a passenger, identified as Muhammed Ershad Chemberika Mohamoood who is a resident of Kasargod, Kerala, and seized about 4.110 kilograms (including moisture content) of dark green dry leaves believed to be ‘CANNABIS’, a narcotic drug commonly known as Marijuana or Ganja, valued at about Rs.5,00,000/- in the international market, from the baggage of the said passenger.
The passenger aged about 31 years, was scheduled to depart to Doha by Air India Express flight No.IX821 on the evening of 18th June.
The passenger has been arrested and is being produced before the Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mangalore, for remand. Further investigation is on.
