Bantwal: A large number of parents of students studying at Talemogaru Higher Primary School in Kurnad gram panchayat limits protested on Wednesday June 4, against the authorities over the lack of teaching staff in the school.
Reportedly there is only one teacher for the around 58 students in the Talemogaru School. The protesting parents alleged that the teachers who worked last year were appointed for a short term basis. They also urged the authorities to appoint more teaching staff on a permanent basis in the school.
The parents even said the school had all the amenities except teachers.
Addressing the protesters, Kurnad Gram Panchayat Member Zubair informed that they have already complained to the Bantwal educational officer. But rather than finding a solution for the existing school, the officer has asked to shut down the school and shift the students to a school which is 2.5 kilometers away, he said
SDMC President Ashraf said that the officers have asked us to shift the students of sixth and eighth standards to Kotekani School, but we are not ready to do that as the way to the school poses danger. He also recalled an earlier incident wherein two students had drowned in a pond.
Kurnad Gram Panchayat President Devdas Bhandary said a memorandum has been submitted to DDPI to appoint teachers for the school.
On the demand of the protestors a lady official arrived from the education department to look into the complaint. She informed that a teacher has been appointed for the school on deputation the same day.
