Mangaluru: It was a panicky moment for six Congress party workers who remained trapped inside an elevator for several minutes at District Congress Office on Friday August 25 till the fire brigade personnel arrived to their rescue.

Reportedly, the workers had taken the lift while on their way back after having attended a programme held at the office here. The lift however got stuck sending them into a panic mode. Their attempts to open the lift door too went in vain. They were rescued after a nearly 10 minutes of being trapped in the elevator with the help of the fire brigade personnel from Pandeshwar who immediately rushed to the spot on being notified.

The cause for the lift malfunction is being attributed to possible overloading.
