Mangaluru: Journalist Chandrahasa Charmadi won the Padhyana Gopalakrishna Bhat award (PaGo) for ‘Dheha Naadalli Manassu Kaadalli’ article.

Mangaluru SP Dr Sharanappa presented the PaGo award to Chandrahasa Charmadi, Sub-editor of ‘Niranthara Pragathi’, at Mangaluru Press Club today.

“The police and the press are like a family, as both are concerned and focused on social issues. The press works as a mirror of the society,” said Sharanappa after presenting the award.

Chandrahasa Charmadi said that, these awards encourage young journalists to work hard and achieve more than the desired results.

Speaking about his article he said, “The article focuses on misuse of the government fund. I faced so many hurdles in penning it down.”

Meanwhile Suresh Belakaje, the sub-editor of Prajavani who has been promoted and transferred to Bengaluru as Chief Sub-editor, was given a farewell.

Mangaluru Press Club President Jagannath Shetty Bala, Manohar Prasad and others were present.
