Mangalore: The annual PaGo Award for best rural reporting was conferred on Suresh D Palli by the former vice chancellor of Manipal University and former director-professor and dean of Kasturba Medical College Dr B M Hegde on Wednesday March 19.



Speaking on the occasion, Dr B M Hegde urged the journalists to strive for truth and strive towards strengthening the society.
Suresh D Palli is a correspondent of Kannada daily Hosa Digantha. The annual award is instituted by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Union in honour of an eminent journalist from the district Late Padyana Gopalkrishna Bhat.
Palli was selected as the recipient of the award for the year 2013 for his report ‘Korapalu Sarathyadalli Belagitu Grama’ published on June 13. The award consisted of a memento, citation, shawl and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
