Mangaluru: P A College of Engineering celebrated its 16th convocation ceremony on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at its campus. Graduating students from all engineering streams of P A College got together at the campus auditorium for the most awaited ceremony of their student lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khadar said the P A College of Engineering was the first engineering college to be established in Mangalore and the rest followed. “Do not be in a hurry to get out of the country. India needs brilliant minds within itself so as to take the country forward. With regard to achieving success in professional life, each one of you should take one step at a time so that you do not lose your step”, he advised the students.

Dr. P A Ibrahim Haji, the Chairman and Managing Trustee of P A Educational Trust started off by saying that all the students look really good in their academic dress. “As the Chairman of P A Engineering College, I am honoured to see students from the college reaching great heights in almost all countries in the world. This gives me a sense of success as they have lead their lives well and achieved what they wanted to”, he said while delivering his address to the gathering of students and parents.

District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai spoke to the students and gave them the parents’ point of view in the convocation. He said, “Parents make great sacrifices for their children so that they can see them become successful individuals. I am sure that the students who have graduated will definitely keep up the name of their parents and take them great places.”

Registrar of VTU Belagavi, Dr. H N Jagannatha Reddy congratulated all the students for their new beginning in life and said, “In real life, graduation is just the new beginning of the students as they enter their professional stage in life. Everyday should be accepted by the students as a new day which can be used to learn new things. That is the real meaning of graduation since learning never stops throughout one’s lifetime.”

Dr. Syed Akheel Ahmed, Professor of University of Mysore, said, “All the students gathered here are the creamy layers of the educated people. Each one of you will surely take good care of your parents since they made you what you have become. Teachers and alma mater should also be revered with the highest respects since they are the ones who shaped your lives.”

Students were given their certificates after the dignitaries finished speaking. The deans of all faculties were present on the main stage. Soon after, the students were seen clicking selfies with their classmates and probably their crushes!
