Bengaluru: The KG Halli police have arrested the accused in the molestation case that took place on Friday morning. The police have identified the accused as Irshad.

According to the police sources, Irshad, a married man, was in love with the victim and wanted to marry her. The police sources said the accused molested the victim to prevent her marrying other person.

It may be recalled the burkha-clad girl was walking towards the bus stop when the accused followed her and sexually assaulting her. The victim, who in a bid to resist the attack, sustained injuries on her lips, tongue and hand. The accused fled the scene when a stray dog started howling.

However, the victim, who had initially claimed that the accused tried to molest her, had retracted her statement. It is believed that police, after verifying the victim’s phone call details, had nabbed the accused.
