Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that even though regular traffic movement will not be allowed between Kerala and the Dakshina Kannada district, in order to stop the spread of COVID-19, emergency vehicles and vehicles transporting essential commodities will be allowed to ply on the Talapady check post.
After chairing a high-level meeting with officials, the MP and MLAs on Saturday, March 21, he told reporters that it was inevitable for the district administration to take stringent measures to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.
“A total of 17 roads connect Dakshina Kannada and Kerala. People should inform either the police or the district administration if anybody accesses the district from Kerala by evading inspection. Meanwhile, those who have arrived in the district from abroad have been stamped with a seal and have been asked to quarantine themselves in their homes. If anybody finds these people in public places, they must inform the district administration,” he said.
Kota also asked the public to extend their support to the ‘Janata Curfew’ call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, March 22. “People should voluntarily support the ‘Janata Curfew’, which is an effective measure to stop the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
Karnataka Legislative Council chairman K Prathapachandra Shetty, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Dr Y Bharath Shetty, D Vedavyas Kamath, U T Khader and others were present.
