NSUI, CFI protest against assault on student by advocate

Moodbidri : The Moodbidri unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Campus Front of India staged a protest in front of the Tahsildar’s office here on September 26, Thursday   to condemn the assault on a student  by an advocate in the town on Wednesday.

As already reported, a quarrel between a student and advocate Shanthi Prasad Hegde  after Hegde’s car brushed past the student, had culminated in an assault and the advocate opening fire in the air.

NSUI District Secretary Irshad  who addressed the protestors,  demanded the arrest of  the advocate Shanthi Prasad who, he said  attacked the student  over a trivial reason and hurled false allegation against him.

He also warned that a severe protest would be staged if  the advocate did not withdraw the complaint against the student alleging that he had attempted to kill the former.

Badshah,  Moodbidri unit President of CFI said an attempt has been made to mislead the case and condemned the act of the advocate  who took law into his hands. He also demanded justice to the aggrieved student.

A memorandum was also submitted to the authorities demanding a thorough probe into the incident.

Shabarish  Shetty, Secretary of Mangalore University Students Union, Pramod  Welson Cutinha, Convenor of Moodbidri unit of NSUI,   Kiran Shetty, Pranam, Irfan, Mohammad Shamshuddin and others took part in the protest.
