K Somanath Nayak, President of NST said that the Trust would file a PIL if the Revenue Department fails to hold an unbiased and efficient probe in this regard. He also released the documents to support the allegation made by the trust.
“In 1974-75, Dr Heggade had declared his assets. He had furnished a revised declaration in 1992 in which several key factors were hidden. However, based on the second declaration, the Belthangady Land Tribunal had given verdict in his favour,” Nayak added.
Adding to the details he said that though the Land Reforms Act provides no room for conversion and sale of land before the verdict of the Land Tribunal is pronounced, Dr Heggade has both converted as well as sold portions of land for which there are proofs.
