Kasargod : Manjeshwar Police have arrested a person who is the prime accused in over 20 theft cases reported from various parts of the district.

The arrested man is Kuriakose (53), a resident  of Kottayam. It is learnt, he had committed the thefts in a span of three months.

Kuriakose who was earlier arrested in connection with a theft in Permude was released in  December last.

Police said he was involved in thefts in Manjeshwar, Badiadka and Kumble station limits and among his targets included the Varkady Panchayat office, a jewellery sheep, bhajana mandir and masjid office apart from several houses.

He has been produced before the court and  remanded to judicial custody. Police said they would appeal to the court to hand him over to their custody.
