Mangaluru: City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar on Thursday. May 18 stated that the permission for holding bike rallies are strictly prohibited in the Commissionerate limits during the election victory celebration.
Addressing a press meet at his office, Vipul Kumar said, “the winning candidates and parties can hold the victory celebrations with certain conditions after obtaining the permission from the police commissioner’s office. However, there will be no permission given to hold bike rallies in order to ensure that the normal life of general public does not get affected or disturbed.”
During the bike rallies there are instances of violation of traffic rules, hence we have decided not allow the bike rallies during the victory procession, Compol added.
On stone pelting incident reported in Adyarpadavu on Tuesday May 15, Compol said that the police have arrested eight people in connection to the case and produced them before the court. The court has remanded accused to judicial custody.
The arrested identified as Naushad, Dawood, Junaid, Sahul Hamid, Harish, Nishanth, Abhishek and Nithesh have been booked under various sections of IPC.
Police Commissioner also said that they have booked a suo motu case on the fake news of church attack through social media. The accused have been booked under the IPC section 153(a), 507, 502.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner for Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth unveiled a separate phone to receive the complaints on traffic inconvenience in the city.
