Mangaluru: Though Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil had declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Tuesday, January 8 following the two-day bandh call by the central trade unions, he informed that there was holiday on Wednesday, January 9.

Suspecting disruption in transport facilities, DC had announced holiday for all schools and colleges on Tuesday. However, the bandh evoked poor response in Dakshina Kannada district. Buses, taxis, autorickshaws plied as usual and no untoward incidents were reported.

Considering this, DC Sasikanth Senthil informed the media that there would not be holiday for schools and colleges on Wednesday and they will remain open as usual.
