Mangalore : The Nitte Institute of Banking and Finance was inaugurated by G Gopalkrishna, Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India at the Derlakatte campus on November 9, Saturday.










Speaking at a formal ceremony held at KS Hegde Auditorium later on, Gopalkrishna stressed the need for better training to enhance the skills, knowledge and capabilities of staff of commercial banks in this competitive age.
Sudhir Kumar Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Syndicate bank who was the chief guest said banks need to give priority to risk management, treasury management and modern technology. Training is a must in this regard and the Nitte Institute of Banking and Finance has made the right move, he added.
S.R.Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, was also present as a chief guest. In his address he said training to bank staff will enable them to deal with problems and challenges efficiently and ensure better customer service.
Dr.N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, in his presidential address said that youth who opt for a career in the banking field should have a flair for sincere customer service. They should work according to their conscience and always bear in mind the fact that an institution is above an individual, he further added.
Dr. NK Tingalaya, former chairman of Syndicate Bank, Dr Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor of Nitte University, Dr Ramananda Shetty, Vice Chancellor and Vishal Hegde, Trustee of Nitte Education Trust, were also present.
Dr MS Moodittaya, welcomed the gathering. Dr Rajashekhar, Staff Development Director proposed the vote of thanks.
