Mangalore : The parallel bridge built across River Netravati  will finally be open for public on March 20, Thursday, and is expected to ease  traffic congestion in the area to a great extent. The construction works of the bridge had started on October 26, 2010. The new bridge is 804 metres long and 11 meters wide. There are 24 pillars  each of them having four files. A total of 96 pre-cast concrete beams  weighing 70 tonnes have been installed.

The distance between old bridge and new bridge is 4.30 meters.The old bridge will be closed for repair.
