Mangaluru: Former Union minister and Member of Rajya Sabha Oscar Fernandes inaugurated the Mangaluru Diocese’s new Bishop’s Episcopal Ordination Information Office at Rosario Cathedral here on August 26.
Retiring Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese, Dr. Aloysius D’Souza blessed the occasion with prayers.
Speaking during the occasion Oscar Fernandes said, “Retiring Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Dr. Aloysius D’Souza has served the Mangaluru Diocese for 22 years. Now he is handing over the responsibility to new appointed Bishop Fr. Peter Paul Saldanha .”
“Mangalore Diocese has got a good name in the country as well in Rome. Mangalore Diocese has produced several Bishops for the country and abroad. The priests from Mangaluru diocese are serving in Europe, Africa, Rome and several places in the world.” he added.
Oscar Fernandes also lauded Dr. Aloysius D’Souza for his immense contribution to the field of education as Bishop of Mangaluru.
Former MLA JR Lobo, MLC Ivan D’ Souza, Blossom Fernandes and others were present.
