Mangalore: The Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV), DK unit organized a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office reproving the visit of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate and Narendra Modi to Bangalore on Friday November 15.

The Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate in the upcoming elections, is scheduled to visit Bangalore on Sunday November 17. The agitators also carried an effigy to symbolically express their opposition to his upcoming visit.

Ali Hasan of Central Muslim Committee at Mangalore said, “A communal leader cannot represent India, we don’t fear Modi but strongly oppose his candidature. We need progress in the country rather than dirty politics.”

With reference to L K Advani, Ali Hasan said, “even he could not become the Prime Minister of the country as he too pledged by Hindutva, a PM candidate must be a comprehensive leader.”

As told that no advertisements are to be displayed in indicating elections or promoting candidates, he questioned, how are the banners and hoardings put up everywhere? Why is not the media or the government talking about it?

Dr Bhoomi Gowda, a lecturer said, “We do not belong to any party, but we are against Narendra Modi for he is a fascist. We need communal harmony in the country. Peace should prevail. It is up to the public to make the decision but BJP, has already been collective towards only one set of the society.”

“If Modi becomes the prime mister will there be peace in the society, rather people would fear to express their point of view, and all we need is freedom, democracy and peace. Hindutva is not an ideology but merely a way used to lure voters”, he added.

Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, district president of the Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike said, “The development model of Gujarat only focuses on corporates enjoying subsides and the poor is completely neglected. They are not but deceiving the public.”

P B D’Sa, state president of People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) also spoke on the occasion.
