Mangalore : Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner and District Election officer Harsh Gupta has said that only those voters whose names are enlisted in the voters list are eligible to vote during the May 5 assembly elections
The Deputy Commissioner spoke to election duty staff of various places through a wireless network as all the staff would be attending a training session on April 30, Tuesday.
Those having EPIC Card but do not have their names included in the list, will not be eligible to vote. Those whose names are in the voters list can produce any one of the 23 identification documents to facilitate voting, the DC said.
The DC boosted the morale of the election duty staff by asking them to be a model to others by functioning in a free, fair and unbiased way. He said the election duty staff can complain of any poll code violation by calling the 1077 helpline. The DC directed the authorities concerned to arrange for drinking water facility and seating arrangements for the election staff.
Food arrangements would be made to the staff if they inform the revenue inspectors concerned in advance, the DC said adding the expenses would be deducted from the honorarium of the staff
All staff must be present at the mustering spot at 6.30 am on May 4, the DC said. Blind and disabled voters can take along with them an assistant to the polling booth, he said.
