Bantwal: Residents of Bantwal taluk took up a protest along with the local leaders from the region against the NHAI and the State government on the prolonged issues caused by the Brahmarakootlu toll booth.

Under the aegis of Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti the agitation was organized at Brahmarakootlu on Friday April 25.

The new toll booth at Brahmarakootlu caused traffic jams as the approach road to the toll plaza was as narrow. The Brahmarakootlu toll collection, which was stopped due to public protests, resumed after they were given police protection, said the protestors.

The protestors also condemned the repetitive attacks on the tollgate staff. It is also revealed that there are irregular amounts charged at the toll gate, apart from the price hike the charged amount keeps on fluctuating, they said.

The protestors shouted slogans against the NH Authority and the toll contractors and were seen requesting motorists not to pay higher toll fee, they alleged that Contractor uses rowdy tactics and bully the people to pay the toll price.

The protestors included Congress leader Harikrishna Bantwal, Piush, Prakash Shetty, Members of Zilla panchayat and various other a local leaders.
