Mysterious gas containers were of ship that sank off Salalah Coast

Kasargod :  Finally, the authorities  have been able to dispel fears regarding the mysterious gas containers that  were washed ashore at several places across the coast in Kasargod last week. It has now been confirmed that the gas containers were from the  vessel “MOL Comfort” that had sank off the Salalah Coast in Oman last month.

According to latest information the  ship “MOL Comfort” belonging to Mitsui OSK Lines of Tokyo had capsized and caught fire on June 17 and had broken into pieces. The containers from this vessel had in fact washed ashore recently causing panic among people.

The Kasargod District Administration, now plans to transport the gas containers to Mangalore Port from where  they can be shipped to their destination. In the meantime, a team from Mitsui OSK Lines including Capt. Allen Lobo, surveyor,  Harsha D’Souza, Insurance Department officer and forensic expert Sachidananda visited Kasargod to inspect the gas containers and refrigerators and other goods which had washed ashore. They also visited Kumble Berike, Mogral Nangi and other places where the goods had washed ashore.
