
Mangaluru: Former BJP leader and independent candidate from Mangaluru South Srikar Prabhu concluded his election campaign with a public convention at the Nehru Maidan on May 10.
Clarifying his intentions for contesting elections, Srikar Prabhu said, “I am contesting elections to make Mangaluru City as model city by providing basic infrastructure.”
Addressing the gathering at Nehru Maidan, he said, “Though I am contesting as an independent candidate with auto rickshaw symbol, my ideology remains same as that of BJP.”
He also urged the people to elect him and provide an opportunity to serve the people.
Taking dig at Congress candidate in Mangaluru South, Srikar Prabhu said, “Though the people provided him an opportunity, he has failed to develop the city. There are several places lacking basic infrastructure in the city.”
“A few people are speaking about transforming Mangaluru City into a hi-tech city. Without a proper bus stand, market, footpaths for pedestrians, can Mangaluru can become a hi-tech city?”, he questioned.
He also appealed to the electorate that they should keep aside those representatives who hadn’t worked for the city despite given the power.
He reiterated his promise of renaming the Bavutagudda Road as Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty Road on priority.
Slamming MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Srikar Prabhu said, “The MP who has won in the name of Modi has betrayed his party and Guru. He is working against the people. People should set him aside in the next elections.” He also criticised the BJP candidate for Mangaluru South constituency in his speech.
Prabhu also handed over models of auto rickshaw to the first time voters.
Sham Sunder Bhat in his inaugural speech, stated that the people who could not tolerate Srikar Prabhu’s work conspired to remove him from BJP without giving any reason.
