Multi-Gym Inaugurated at Moodabidri

Moodabidri: On the occasion of National Sports day Honorable Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Mr Ramanath Rai and honorable minister of sports and fisheries K. Abhayachandra Jain inaugurated a Multi gym at Swaraj Maidan here on Sunday at Moodabidri. Swaraj Maidan was built and developed by Dr M. Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education foundation who proposed this multi facility gym for the benefit of all sportspersons of Moodabidri and around was also present during this event.

Addressing the gathering Ramanath Rai said, “It is actually a great opportunity for students of Dakshin Kannada and Udupi that the recent congress government is giving more facilities for sports and culture. He insisted that every individual need to be physically strong and mentally healthy in order to live long.” He recollected his childhood memories of being a sports person himself.

K.Abhayachandra Jain said that very soon there will be a government project of a crore to build a peoples gallery for Swaraj Maidan and another proposal for a Synthetic court is also in progress. He said, “Mangaloreans are achievers in both the field of education and sports. The result of these achievements I would also propose to have a swimming pool and four shuttle badminton courts at the same venue.”

Dr M. Mohan Alva, who also spoke during the occasion, was indeed very happy with the assurance and the support given by current ministers of state to Moodubidri. He mentioned that it was a dream come true this year that huge developments are taking place under the leadership of our eminent ministers of state.

Members of local constituency and Panchayath were also present during the
event.

The event was followed by Alvas Ekalvya Award ceremony at VidyaGiri.
