Mangalore: The railway official organized a meeting under the leadership of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel at Circuit House here on Monday November 25, to discuss the welfare and initiate progressive ventures for the railway department.
Piyush Agarwal, DRM of Palghat Division said, “Kerala Industrial and Technological Consultancy Organization (KITCO) Ltd has already completed the survey and chalked out the plan for upgrading Mangalore Central into a world class railway station.”
Agarwal and Shriram Mishra, members of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) guaranteed of finishing the work before the next monsoon.
They said, “The construction of an over-bridge at Baikampady will be done at the earliest.”
With regards to the construction of railway under bridge at Bajal-Padil, Agarwal said, “The present proposed under bridge plan is technically not safe for commuters and there is also a technical problem. There is no provision for the required length of box-pushing in the place that is allocated.”
Responding to this, Kateel asked MCC officials to discuss with railway board members on this issue in Chennai. Accordingly, Agarwal fixed a meeting in Chennai for Friday November 29 where the technical problems will be discussed.
The West Coast Rail Passenger’s Development Committee president G Hanumanth Kamath and M Ahmed Bava, member of Railway Users’ Consultancy Committee raised up the topic stating the delays in under bridge work in Bajal.
Agrawal confirmed saying, “For the construction of under bridge from Jeppu to Kudpady, the Mangalore Corporation has dispatched Rs 9.70 lac and comprehensive estimated for Rs 3.612 crore has been sent to the Corporation but so for no response has been approached.”
Issues with regards to the Mangalore-Madgaon train, maintenance of Mangalore Junction railway station, Kabakka Puttur railway station, and Neralakatte railway stop were also brought to notice.
ADC Dayanand, Anil Kumar, senior division manager of Mysore Railways, Vinaykumar, assistant traffic manager of Konkan Railways, and MCC executive engineer Rajasheker were present.
