Mangalore: A tragic road accident reported on the  Yekkar main road near Kateel in the outskirts of the city on April 10, Thursday afternoon, has claimed the life of a mother and a son.

The deceased are Surekha (32) and her son Vachan (12). The mishap took place when the Honda Activa which they were pillion riding while returning home from Kateel Temple was hit by a speeding tipper from the rear.

The impact of the collision was such that the mother and   son died on the spot. Surekha husband Umesh (36), a police constable in Mulki station who was riding the two-wheeler  and  the couple’s another son who is six years old,  were injured in the mishap. The condition of Umesh is said to be critical while the couple’s another son  Advaith (6) suffered minor injuries.They have been admitted to AJ Hospital in Mangalore.
