Mangaluru: Former union minister Veerappa Moily on Friday took strong objection to the demands made by Dalit leaders. He said the present CM was performing at his best hence there was no question of parachuting a Dalit leader into the CM’s chair at this juncture.

He criticized the resolution passed by many Dalit organizations which disrespected Siddaramaiah’s dedication in strengthening the state. He opined that the current CM has good chances of continuing in the post even in the next term, if he worked with similar zest in future. He praised the CM for forming pro-people policies in the best interest of the state. He was speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of a program in the city.

Moily expressed the view, that it was needless for the Dalit organizations to bat for a Dalit CM. “If any leader wants to become the CM, then it is his own personal wish. The party would holistically look into every dimension before selecting its candidate,” he conveyed. He urged Dalit leaders not to meddle in the internal matters of the party.

Speaking on the policy of government towards oil prices, he said, the union government lead by BJP is reluctant to pass on the benefits of low oil prices to the customers. “During the UPA when the prices were rising we did not put the burden on users.” This was the opportunity for the NDA to cut the prices by reducing excise duty on fuels.
