Mangaluru: Mogaveers UAE, a premier association of the Mogaveer community handed over scholarships to deserving students at Urwa Mariyamma temple on Sunday, August 28.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Mogaveers UAE, Lokesh V Puthran said, “Mogaveers have also made their presence felt in the United Arab Emirates, with around 3000 members. Some of them being fortunate to have had better education and become economically better, have come together for a cause, to do their bit, to their community, identifying students who excel, with a view to encourage them to do better and achieve their goal”.
Puthran said that, he became a Chartered Accountant and has been in Dubai for the last forty years. He has a firm from which 40 people get their living. “I failed to score well in class 8th exams, but thereafter was determined to excel” he said. He also said that he was chosen as the president of Mogaveers UAE on merit.
As many as eight students were given scholarship amounting to Rs 1 lakh on the occasion. Sohan Kotian from Ullal, Prajna and Sahana Mendon from Bolooru, Harshitha Kotian from Moolur, Sharanya from Nireshwalya, Dhanyashree from Padu Hoige, Nameetha from Ullal and Nishidha from Uppala were handed over the scholarships.
Some of the members from the Mogaveera community said that they were fortunate to have Lokesh Puthran as their president. Lokesh Puthran is also the treasurer of Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), Dubai is the only recognized representative organisation of Indian Business and Professionals in Dubai.
Founder member of Mogaveers UAE, Harish Amin; Ex-treasurer, Dhananjaya; member Kiran and other trustees of Urwa Mariyamma temple were present on the occasion.
