Mangaluru: As the Modi government completed its two years, All India Mahila Congress President Shobha Ozha said that the Modi government hasn’t taken any step in terms of empowering women.

Addressing mediapersons on Thursday at the district Congress office, Shobha said that with the slogan of ‘bahut hua mahilaon pe atyachar, ab ki baar Modi sarkaar’, BJP entered the election and won by clear majority. But after that, the scenario has changed drastically.
“Sexual harassment on women has been increased by 9 per cent. Top BJP leaders and MP’s are giving foul statements regarding women empowerment. BJP and Sangh Parivar are spreading their fascist ideologies across India. They are treating women as child-bearing machines,” she said.
“The fact that the budget for women empowerment remains stagnant at 4.5 per cent of the total budget since the last two years clearly indicates the lack of concern of the current government towards women,” she added.
She further said that the government had promised to create 2 crore jobs for youth each year, but only 1.34 lakh jobs have been created. The taxes have been hiked, which has increased the revenue to the government. But where did the money go? The money is spent advertising of Modi and his ‘sarkaar’.
She continued saying that, RSS is forcing students to study their agenda by including it in the university syllabus. The government promised to bring back underworld don Dawood Ibrahim to India in hundred days. They could not bring Lalit Modi and Mallya to India how will they bring Dawood?
“Farmers are committing suicide, there is crisis of water all over India, women and youth are struggling to stand on their feet, but the PM is not bothered about it. People opposing the ideologies of BJP and RSS are named as anti-national activists,” she said.
Karnataka State Mahila Congress President Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Dakshina Kannada Congress Interim President Kodijal Ibrahim, DK Youth Congress President Mithun Rai and others were present.
