Mob attack on journalist in Kasargod

Kasargod: A journalist was thrashed by a group on Sunday March 30, over an argument that led into fight.

The assaulted reporter has been identified as 43-year-old A P Vinod, who works at Malayalam daily ‘Tejus’. Vinod was beaten-up by a gang at KPR Rao road.

The reporter was on his way to his office at Kasargod after covering the election campaign of left wing election candidate P Karunakaran at Manjeshwar, when he stopped to buy water. A man approached Vinod and allegedly snatched Rs 300 from him.

Vinod caught hold of the man and questioned him, and arguments arose between them after which a group chased and assaulted him.

The police who arrived on receiving information from the locals admitted Vinod to Kasargod general hospital.

Kasargod Press Club condemned the assault on Vinod. A case has been registered against four persons.
