Mangaluru: While the Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress President and coalition candidate Mithun Rai is busy now seeking votes, Youth Congress General Secretary (Mangaluru Assembly Constituency) Karthik Poojary has tendered his resignation and stated that he would support BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Karthik Poojary has released a press note and informed that there is no any scope for Billava community in Congress. When Congress leaders finalised Mithun’s name for the coalition candidate, they did not seek the opinion of the Billava community leader and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary. After all this, why Mithun Rai had to seek the Poojary’s blessings by touching his feet now, he questioned.

Meanwhile, he has requested in the press release that Poojary should take back his oath of not visiting Kudroli temple, if Mithun Rai lost the election. Why should Poojary stop visiting the temple for the sake of Mithun Rai, though the latter has been insulting the whole Billava community, he questioned.

Karthik also alleged that Mithun Rai had not taken any measures to strengthen the party. He also accused Mithun of never allowing others to grow in the party, except few of his associates.

When contacted, Karthik Poojary confirmed with newskarnataka.com that he had already sent his resignation to the higher-ups. “As Narendra Modi has been doing well as the prime minister of the country,  I want to support him in this election”, he said and added that hundreds of his supporters also would support Modi this time.
