Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza and Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath visited the Boloor crematorium where the first COVID-19 victim of the Dakshina Kannada district was cremated on Monday, April 20.

When they visited the crematorium, the locals approached them and opposed the cremation of COVID-19 victims there in future, claiming that this could cause others to get infected as well.

The locals also alleged that after the cremation, no sterilization procedures were undertaken to clean the spot.

After hearing the grievances of the public, Ivan D’Souza assured that he would bring it into the notice of the Deputy Commissioner and District Health Officer so that appropriate measures can be taken in this regard.
