Mangaluru: A day after Deepak, a right wing activist from Kaatipalla, was brutally hacked to death on December 3, MLA Moideen Bava condemned the heinous crime and said that the district administration had already sanctioned compensation to the family. “I personally will provide Rs 5 Lakh as compensation to Deepak’s family”, he added.
Addressing a press meet at his office here on December 4, he said, “I pray to the almighty that those who have committed this brutal crime will get the death sentence. No one has the right to end someone else’s life.”
“A compensation of Rs 5 Lakh has already been paid to the family from the CM’s Relief Fund and another Rs 5 Lakh has been paid by the district administration. A job will also be provided to Deepak’s younger brother in a private firm”, said the MLA.
Expressing his doubts regarding the case, the MLA said that one of the accused in the murder, Pinky Nawaz’s elder brother is an activist of the BJP in Katipalla and his brother-in law is a BJP activist in Kapu, and asked that the police make a thorough probe into the matter.
Bava also said that he would personally pay Rs 2 Lakh as compensation to Basheer, who was attacked by unidentified miscreants on December 3. He also added that Rs 50,000 would be provided to Mubishar who was also attacked in Surthkal on the same day. He added that he would discuss the reimbursement of Basheer and Mubishar’s medical expenses with the district administration.
Explaining about his whereabouts during the incident, he stated that he was in Delhi when the incident took place. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel informed him about the attacks after which he immediately left for Mangaluru and paid a visit to Deepak.
