Mangaluru: The One Day National Hackathon – SAP Hackfest was inaugurated at Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering on 10th May 2024 at MITE Campus.
The third edition of the Hackathon was supported by SAP, a leader in enterprise application software, enhancing the event’s scope and impact through its technological expertise and industry insights.
Inaugurating the event Venkata Ramana L, a development expert from SAP Academy for Engineering, briefed the audience about the importance of nurturing more entrepreneurs from our Country.
In this regard, SAP Hackest provides a platform to all Innovators to come forward and propose innovative solutions to challenging real-world problems.
This edition of Hackfest has dedicated to harnessing the collective expertise of talented students and professionals in addressing critical areas such as Crowd Sourced Disaster Management, Green Credit Management, and Revolutionizing Tomorrow: Harnessing the Power of Renewable Energy.
Venkat Raman in his address mentioned that the Hackfest which was initiated on 8th March 2024 is conducting Regional Rounds across Major Cities upto May 2024, to identify the Top 300 ideas from a total of 3000 Submissions for the Final Round.
The Top Three finalists will bag a total prize money of Rs. 5 Lakhs.
The Hackfest event will nurture innovators to identify innovative solutions and create more startups, thus enabling a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.
Dr Prashanth C M, Principal presided over the program. In his presidential address, Dr Prashanth highlighted the innovative ecosystem presented at the MITE campus, through which entrepreneurs are nurtured.
He also mentioned that a Global Innovation Center that can house 30 Startups and 50 Incubates will be coming up at the campus shortly.
More number of Ideators participating in the SAP Hackfest prove the innovation mindset that a student has.
The Hackfest witnessed the participation of total of 157 Teams, with each team having upto 4-5 Members.
A total of 650 Students from from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa and Maharashtra participated in the Hackfest and showcased their ideas.
Twenty Prominent Jury Members from Industry and Academia evaluated the Ideas.
Senior Jury member Shyamraj K S, Business Head – ITMS, Manipal Technologies Limited applauded the innovative ideas that were presented by the students and appreciated the Institute’s efforts in nurturing the Entrepreneurs.
The Hackfest 2024 provided a unique platform for students to apply their knowledge to practical scenarios and develop solutions that could potentially revolutionize how we manage disasters, environmental credits, and energy sources.
The shortlisted ideas will be presenting their completed prototype in the final round to be held in July 2024, wherein Top Regional round finalists will be competing for the Top Honours.
Dr Madhwaraj, HoD MCA welcomed the Gathering. Dr Anushree Faculty MCA proposed the Vote of thanks, and Shwetha, Faculty of MCA compered the Program.
