Moodabidri: Priyanka, a girl from Moodabidri who went missing from her home a day before her wedding has now landed in jail.

Priyanka was believed to have eloped with a youth from another community from Farangipet, sparking debate on love jihad in the region.

However, the police traced the two in Mumbai and produced Priyanka before the court.

As per her mother’s complaint, Priyanka had laced their food with sedative so that she could leave the house conveniently.

With the complaint clearly stating the same, the police produced her before the court which remanded her to judicial custody till Dec 26.

However, the youth with whom she left the house has not been booked by the police and is being questioned, it is learnt.
